History behind the famous Disneyland

Disneyland Park, also known as the “happiest place on earth” was once called The Mickey mouse park, then the name changed to Disneylandia, and they later came with the Disneyland.

This park is situated on 160 acre land in Anaheim California, United States of America.

Walt Disney thought about creating a park in 1940 when he took his daughter to Griffith park in Los Angeles. He was sitting and watching his daughter ride on the carousel at the park.

The vision

That year, Walt Disney was already known for his cartoon studio that produced characters like the snow white and mickey mouse. Though he also has fans but still looks out to create a place where children can play. Also, a place where popular show characters can come to life. In essence, Walt Disney was envisioning about that will be more fun and memorable.

Building the park

His first approach was to start building the park on the Disneyland studio and gave it the first name “mickey mouse park”. However, the concept outgrew the land and he started looking for a place to purchase a good portion of land. While looking for another land, he started visiting parks to get inspired with what is already existing.

Opening of the Disneyland

Later, Disneyland was built on a 160 acre orange orchard in Anaheim. The construction started in 1953 and was completed in 1955.

The opening was disastrous due to overwhelming intruders with fake tickets.

It opened its gates to quest by charging $1 for a ticket. However, the price of tickets is now over $100. The opening ceremony was a disaster but guess what? It also attracted about 90 million viewers across all the platforms available.
